CTE New Housing group report 30.03.11.
We reviewed what we thought to be a successful visit to Milton Keynes, the popular report of which you can see below.
We considered a major paper from the Church of England which had been sent by the Church Commissioners for us to consider. We 'warmly welcomed and appreciated the report' and had a long discussion about some of the main points made. We agreed to discuss further and invite writers of the report to join us. We agreed to work together with the Church Commissioners group as much as possible, especially in the area of research as to best practice for the churches engagement in new housing areas.
We also discussed 'schools' in new housing areas and church involvement in them, especially with the financial cutbacks - we had a question about 'off the shelf' school plans which were cheaper than new drawings but probably limited community use.
We discussed possible joint meetings with other housing groups and how we could raise the profile of church engagement in new housing areas.
We also discussed the web area and agreed that a review was needed of the resource material on the old Church in New Housing Areas website as some was being added to this CTE web space. Only recent material would be added.
Following the previous meeting - which was a site visit to Milton Keynes - we had produced a paper called 'What we heard in Milton Keynes' for general distribution.
