The 2010 Yorkshire and the North East Cymanfa Ganu

Welsh Hymn-Singing Festival
Toll Gavel Methodist/United Reformed Church, Toll Gavel, Beverley, Yorkshire
Saturday, 8th MAY 2010

People come from as far afield as Newcastle and Nottingham, Hull, Leeds and Manchester to take part.  Toll Gavel is one of the main streets in the centre of Beverley, but the church is set back a little: it is on the left hand side as you walk from the centre towards the Saturday Market.

The hymn-singing will be led by International Soprano Yvonne Robert, a Welsh-speaking singer from the Prestatyn area originally, now living in the York area, and leader of the Occasion Choir. The organist will be Mr Nicholas Page. Most of the hymns are sung in Welsh, with four-part harmony for the proficient, but the spoken part of the services is in both Welsh and English. The event is inter-denominational: all are welcome!

There will be two sessions, 2.00 - 3.30 and 4.45 - 6.30, with an opportunity between the two to eat your sandwiches and enjoy the tea and coffee provided.
