Rowan-Williams0“What is Christianity?”

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, gave a lecture with the title “What is Christianity” at the International Islamic University in Islamabad, Pakistan, in November 2005.

In the lecture the Archbishop starts from the perspective of an onlooker at Christian church services. He speaks about who Jesus is, what being Son of God means. He explains sin and redemption, the meaning of Jesus’ death and resurrection and the work of the Holy Spirit. He outlines the Christian view of Scripture, the meaning of the Eucharist, the Church and divisions among Christians, and speaks briefly of the Christian view of marriage and of warfare. He concludes with a short section on contemplative prayer and life in God.
